The hamzat-ul-wasl is a unique character encountered in the Madani masahif. There are a few aspects to learn about this character. Here we will look at the aspect of how to begin with the hamzat-ul-wasl when it appears at the beginning of an ayah, or when you are resuming after a stop in the midst of an ayah.

Do note that it’s highly recommended to have your recitation guided by a qualified teacher so that you learn all aspects of this character (not only how to start), and you are able to recite it correctly wherever it appears in the Quran.
